Tour Overview
This diving trip from Marsa Alam gives you two scuba dives in the southern Red Sea in a single day, led by an instructor. You are driven from your hotel to the dive spot, receive a personal briefing, then dive in the morning and again in the afternoon at a second location. Scuba equipment, lunch and transfers are included, and a short medical form is completed first. Each dive usually lasts around 30 to 40 minutes, following your instructor the whole way.
Tour Highlights
- Dive the reefs off Marsa Alam, on the far southern coast of the Egyptian Red Sea, where dive sites tend to see fewer boats than around the northern resort towns.
- Follow a skilled instructor on both dives, after a personal briefing that walks you through the equipment, hand signals and the plan for the site.
- Make two dives at two different locations, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so you see two different parts of the reef in one day.
- Wear scuba diving equipment supplied for the day, so you do not need to own or carry any gear, only swimwear, a towel and sunscreen.
- Travel in a modern air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel and back, with lunch, bottled water, soft drinks and every tax and charge in the price.
Tour Route
Why dive in Marsa Alam instead of the northern resorts?
Marsa Alam is far down the coast from Egypt's larger resort towns, with fewer hotels and fewer boats on the water. For many divers that means calmer sites and reefs that feel less visited. If you are already staying here, it also means short transfers to the sea instead of a long drive north.
What happens on a two-dive day?
The day follows a simple pattern: a personal briefing with your instructor, a first dive in the morning, lunch and rest, then a second dive in the afternoon at another location. Each dive usually lasts around 30 to 40 minutes, and your instructor leads you through both.
The break between the dives is part of the plan, not wasted time. It gives you time to rest, and it is the best moment to ask questions while the first dive is still fresh in your mind.
Why is a medical form required?
Your safety is the priority on this trip, and the medical form is how we check that diving suits you before you go in the water. Complete it honestly and early. If anything on it worries you, tell us before the day, not on the morning of your dive.
Should you snorkel or dive in Marsa Alam?
Snorkel if you want a light, easy sea day on the surface; dive if you want to be down among the coral with an instructor. The two trips suit different moods, and many visitors book both on separate days.
- Diving (this page): two dives at two locations, a personal briefing, scuba gear and an instructor.
- Snorkeling: a boat day with several reef stops, snorkeling gear, lunch on board and a chance of dolphins.
- Packing: both trips supply the equipment, so you only bring swimwear, a towel and sunscreen.
What else can you do from Marsa Alam?
Between sea days, the reef, the desert and the Nile Valley are all within a day's reach of your hotel. You can stay on the surface with a snorkeling trip, drive a quad bike into the mountains for a Bedouin dinner at sunset, or visit the riverside temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo.
To stay on the surface, book the Marsa Alam snorkeling trip. To drive a quad bike into the mountains and share a Bedouin dinner at sunset, see the desert safari from Marsa Alam. For temples instead of reefs, the Edfu and Kom Ombo day trip from Marsa Alam visits two riverside temples in one day.
Tour Itinerary
One full day built around two dives: a briefing, a morning dive, lunch and rest, then a second dive at a different location.
Your safety comes first, so a medical form is completed before any diving starts. Ask us for it when you book and read each question carefully. If you are unsure about any answer, for example a past illness or medicine you take, tell us early so it can be checked well before your dive day.
A modern air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel in Marsa Alam and drives you to the dive spot. Bottled water and soft drinks are on board. Wear swimwear under your clothes and pack a towel, sunscreen, a warm layer for after the dives and a dry change of clothes.
At the dive spot you meet your instructor, who gives you a personal briefing before anyone gets wet. You go over how the equipment works, the signals you will use underwater and what the site looks like. Ask anything here; no question is too basic.
The first dive is in the morning, following your instructor over the reef. How long you stay under is up to you, though a dive usually lasts around 30 to 40 minutes. Breathe slowly, keep your hands to yourself and let the coral and fish pass at their own pace.
Lunch is included between the two dives. Rest, drink plenty of water and talk the first dive over with your instructor: what felt easy, what felt strange and what you want to look for next. Tell us about allergies or special diets when you book.
In the afternoon you move to another location for the second dive, again following your instructor and usually lasting around 30 to 40 minutes. With the first dive behind you, the equipment feels more familiar, which leaves more of your attention for the reef itself.
After the second dive, the air-conditioned vehicle returns you to your hotel in Marsa Alam. The instructor, equipment, lunch, drinks and all taxes are paid already, so keep some cash only for tips and personal extras.
