Thirteen tours that start at your Aswan hotel or Nile cruise ship: Philae and the High Dam, Abu Simbel, a felucca on the river by day or at night, the Nubian village, and day or two-day trips north to Edfu, Luxor and Cairo.
A one-hour felucca ride is from $25 per person in a group. The Aswan sightseeing tour, with the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae, is from $80 per person in a group of 9 to 16, or $130 each for two to four. Abu Simbel is from $115. Hotel pickup is included.
Aswan sits on the first cataract of the Nile, where the river narrows between granite islands and Nubia begins. It is quieter than Luxor, and most of what it is known for is on or beside the water: Philae on its island, the High Dam, the granite quarries, the Nubian villages on the west bank, and the feluccas that sail between them.
Every tour on this page picks you up from your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan. The sightseeing tours are private, with your own Egyptologist guide and air-conditioned car, so the price per person depends on how many of you there are. Avicon Travel is a licensed agency based in Luxor, and these tours are run by our own team.

The Aswan sightseeing tour covers the three classic sites: the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk still lying in its granite quarry, and the Temple of Isis on Philae island, reached by boat. Add an hour on a felucca in the late afternoon and you have seen the best of the town.
Yes, for most visitors. The two rock-cut temples of Ramses II and Nefertari are among the most famous monuments in Egypt, and the day trip from Aswan is the usual way to see them. It is a long day by road, so plan a quiet evening after it.
By day you see Elephantine and Kitchener islands, the granite boulders and the west bank clearly. At night the river is calm and quiet, with the lights of the town on the water. Both rides last an hour and pick you up from your hotel.
Only if you are not taking a Nile cruise. Every cruise between Aswan and Luxor stops at both temples, so cruise passengers see them anyway. The day trip suits travelers staying in Aswan who want the two temples with their own guide.
Yes. Luxor is a day trip by first-class train, with the main temples and tombs and lunch. Cairo and the pyramids are a domestic flight away, in a day or over two days with a 5-star hotel night, flights included in the price.
Yes. Most of our Aswan tours collect you from your hotel or from your Nile cruise ship moored in Aswan and bring you back at the end. Each tour page says exactly where pickup is.
The sightseeing tours are private: your own Egyptologist guide and air-conditioned car, with no other travelers joining. That is why the price per person drops as your group grows. The felucca rides and the sound and light show are short outings with their own price.
On the sightseeing tours, yes: the price includes the entrance fees for the sites listed on each tour page. Each tour page lists exactly what is included and what is not, so check the tour you want before you book.
October to April, when days are warm rather than hot. Aswan is one of the hottest places in Egypt from May to September, so plan sightseeing for the early morning and leave the felucca for the late afternoon or evening.
