Two five-night programmes on Sanctuary Sun Boat III, both full board with an Egyptologist. Departures run on Fridays and Tuesdays, and a 9-day programme is also offered.
Your guide meets you in Aswan for the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple, then you embark Sanctuary Sun Boat III for lunch and a welcome cocktail. The afternoon is a felucca around Elephantine Island, and the first night is spent alongside at Aswan.
A full sailing day north, with Kom Ombo in the afternoon: the one temple in Egypt built as a mirrored pair, half for Sobek the crocodile god and half for Horus the elder.
Edfu, the best-preserved temple in the country, reached by horse carriage from the mooring. Back aboard for the run north and through the lock at Esna, which is worth being on deck for.
The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple on its terraces and the Colossi of Memnon, with the afternoon free as the ship lies at Luxor. A sunrise balloon flight can be added to this morning.
Karnak and Luxor Temple with your guide after breakfast, then disembarkation and the transfer on to Luxor airport or wherever you are going next.
You meet your guide in Luxor for Karnak, added to by pharaoh after pharaoh for two thousand years, then board Sanctuary Sun Boat III for lunch. Luxor Temple comes in the evening, lit and largely empty, which is the better time to see it. A welcome cocktail is served on board.
The Valley of the Kings, where the New Kingdom pharaohs were cut into the rock, Hatshepsut's three terraces built into the cliff, and the Colossi of Memnon. Back on board for lunch, and the ship sails for Edfu while you eat.
Edfu by horse carriage from the mooring to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved in the country. Then back aboard and on to Kom Ombo, the double temple shared between Sobek and Horus the elder, before the overnight run south to Aswan.
Breakfast on board at Aswan, then the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk still lying in its quarry, and Philae Temple, which was moved island to island in the 1970s to save it from the water. Lunch, dinner and the last night on board.
Breakfast, check out, and transfer wherever you are going next in Aswan. Abu Simbel can be added here as an optional excursion at the end of the programme - it is the natural place for it, since you are already as far south as the cruise goes.
