Can you see Luxor and Cairo in two days from Aswan?

Yes. This trip is built for travelers based in Aswan who want the highlights of both cities without extra hotel moves. Day one covers Luxor's West Bank and Karnak, day two covers Giza and two museums, and you sleep one night in Cairo. It is a fast pace, but each day has a clear focus.

How do you travel between Aswan, Luxor and Cairo?

Each leg uses the most practical transport. Every ticket is included and our team handles all transfers.

  • Aswan to Luxor: first-class train along the Nile.
  • Luxor to Cairo: domestic flight at the end of day one.
  • Cairo to Aswan: domestic flight at the end of day two.
  • On the ground: a private air-conditioned car and driver throughout.

Where do you stay on this trip?

The price covers one night at a 5-star Cairo hotel, and you leave after breakfast on day two. The exact hotel is confirmed with your booking. Pack a small overnight bag; many travelers leave larger luggage at their Aswan hotel, since the trip ends back there.

Why does the price change with season and group size?

Most of the cost is two domestic flights and the Cairo hotel, and both rise in the busy winter months, with a peak over the holidays at the end of December. Larger groups pay less each, since the guide, car and transfers are split between more people. May to September is normally the cheapest time to go.

What else can you do from Aswan?

If you would rather spend both days in Cairo, see the 2-day Cairo trip from Aswan by plane. For Luxor alone, the Luxor day trip from Aswan is a shorter option, and our Aswan day tours cover Philae, the High Dam and the Nubian villages.

Tour Itinerary

Two packed days that use a train, two flights and a car to link three cities, with Luxor's temples first and Cairo's Pyramids second.

1
Day 1 · Morning Pickup in Aswan and the train to Luxor

After breakfast at your hotel, our representative picks you up in Aswan and takes you to the station for the first-class train to Luxor; the tickets are included. The line follows the Nile most of the way. In Luxor, your guide and private car are waiting.

2
Day 1 · Morning The Valley of the Kings

On the West Bank, the New Kingdom pharaohs cut their tombs deep into a desert valley, hoping to hide them from robbers. More than sixty tombs have been found, including Tutankhamun's. Inside, the walls are painted with texts that guide the dead king through the underworld, often in remarkably fresh colors.

3
Day 1 · Late morning Hatshepsut's Temple and the Colossi of Memnon

Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled with the full titles of a king, set her temple in three stepped terraces beneath the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Heading back toward the river, you pause at the Colossi of Memnon, the twin stone giants of Amenhotep III, each close to 18 meters high.

4
Day 1 · Midday Lunch in Luxor

Lunch is included at a restaurant in Luxor, a break from the West Bank heat before you cross to the East Bank.

5
Day 1 · Afternoon Karnak Temple

Karnak was the home of Amun, the chief god of Thebes, with his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. Pharaohs added to it for some two thousand years, so you see pylons, obelisks and shrines from many reigns. The Avenue of Sphinxes and the Great Hypostyle Hall are the highlights.

6
Day 1 · Evening Flight to Cairo and your 5-star hotel

From Karnak you go straight to Luxor Airport for the domestic flight to Cairo, which is booked for you. A driver is waiting on arrival to bring you to your 5-star hotel. Dinner is not included, so you can eat at the hotel or rest.

7
Day 2 · Morning Breakfast and the Giza Pyramids

After breakfast and check-out, your Egyptologist guide takes you to the Giza plateau. You see the Great Pyramid, last survivor of the ancient world's Seven Wonders, the Sphinx guarding Thutmose IV's Dream Stela, and Khafre's Valley Temple with its massive red granite walls.

8
Day 2 · Late morning The Grand Egyptian Museum

Minutes from the plateau, the Grand Egyptian Museum holds the colossal Ramses II, the Hanging Obelisk and, for the first time in one place, everything found in Tutankhamun's tomb. Your guide picks the galleries that matter most for the time you have.

9
Day 2 · Afternoon Lunch, the Egyptian Museum and the flight home

Lunch is served where you can see the Pyramids or the Nile. Then you visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, open since 1902, before your guide drops you at Cairo Airport for the flight to Aswan. A driver meets you there and takes you back to your hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about this tour. For anything else, message us on WhatsApp — we reply fast.

Where does the trip start and end?

It starts at your hotel in Aswan, where our representative picks you up after breakfast and takes you to the train station. It ends there too: after the flight from Cairo, a driver meets you at Aswan Airport and drops you back at your hotel. Just send us your hotel name.

What is included in the price?

Your first-class train seat to Luxor, the Luxor–Cairo and Cairo–Aswan flights, a 5-star hotel night in Cairo, private Egyptologist guiding, a private car, two lunches, bottled water, every entrance fee on the program and all taxes. Tips are extra.

Is this a private tour, and why does the price vary?

Yes. Nobody else joins your group, and your guide and car stay with you throughout. Each person pays less in a bigger group, since the car and guide cost the same however many travel. It also changes by season, because airfares and hotel rates rise in winter.

Can I go inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings?

Yes. Your entrance ticket to the Valley of the Kings covers several of the open royal tombs, which rotate to protect the paintings. Your guide picks the best ones open on the day. A few tombs, such as Tutankhamun's, have their own separate ticket, so ask us in advance if you want one.

Is Avicon Travel a licensed tour operator?

Yes. Avicon Travel is a Class "A" travel agency licensed by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism under License No. 1962 and registered since 2010. Our office and team are in Karnak, Luxor, so the guides, drivers and cars on this tour are our own local team, not a booking desk abroad.
