Tour Overview
This is a tandem paramotor flight over the Giza Pyramids: you sit in a harness in front of a qualified pilot, under a wing pushed along by a small engine on the pilot's back, and spend about 10 to 15 minutes in the air above the pyramids and the Sphinx. Flights run early in the morning on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from late January to early March. It is the only way on our list to see the whole plateau from above.
Tour Highlights
- See all three pyramids, the queens' pyramids and the Sphinx from the air, laid out the way the ancient planners drew them, not as you see them from the ground.
- Fly tandem with a qualified pilot who handles the takeoff, the steering and the landing, so you need no flying experience at all.
- Take off in the early morning, when the air is usually calmest and the low sun throws long shadows from the pyramids across the sand.
- Get a safety briefing and fitted gear before the flight, with all equipment included; the whole session takes about 30 minutes.
- Travel from your Cairo hotel to the launch area and back with a private representative, with nothing to arrange on your own.
Tour Route
What is a paramotor flight over the pyramids?
A paramotor is a paraglider wing with a small engine and propeller worn on the pilot's back, so it can take off from flat ground and climb without a hill. On a tandem flight you sit in front of the pilot in a shared harness. You do not steer; you just look down at the pyramids.
How is this different from the other ways to see Giza?
Every other Giza experience keeps you on the ground: walking the plateau with a guide, riding a camel or quad around it, or watching the Sound and Light Show from the seating area. The paramotor is the only one that shows you the whole site at once from above, which is how its layout is easiest to understand.
When can you fly a paramotor over Giza?
Flights run from late January to early March, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, early in the morning. Outside that window, this flight is not available. Because flying depends on wind and visibility on the day, plan it early in your stay so there is room to move it if conditions are not right.
What else can you do around Giza?
A flight takes only part of a morning, so it pairs naturally with a ground-level visit to the same monuments, either later the same day or on another day of your trip, when you can walk among the pyramids you saw from above.
To walk among the pyramids with an Egyptologist after your flight, book the half-day Giza Pyramids tour. For another way across the desert, try quad biking around the Giza Pyramids, and if your trip reaches Luxor, the Luxor hot air balloon ride gives you a gentler view of temples from above.
Tour Itinerary
A short, early session: pickup, a safety briefing, 10 to 15 minutes in the air, and the drive back to your hotel.
Your private representative meets you at your hotel in Cairo early in the morning and drives you to the launch area near the Giza Plateau. Flights only run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between late January and early March, so book ahead and keep a second date free in case the weather intervenes.
At the launch area you meet your tandem pilot, who goes through the safety measures with you and helps you into your safety gear. Listen carefully to what you are asked to do at takeoff and landing, and ask anything you are unsure of. The briefing and flight together take about 30 minutes.
The engine starts, the wing rises and you lift off. For the next 10 to 15 minutes you look down on the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the smaller queens' pyramids, the Sphinx and the desert stretching west. From above, the causeways and temples that link each pyramid to the valley finally make sense.
Your pilot brings you down at the landing area, and your representative drives you back to your hotel in Cairo. The flight, gear, pilot and transfers are already paid, so you only need money for tips, drinks and anything personal you add.

Each flight is one passenger with one pilot, and the transfer is for your group alone. Because the transfer costs the same for two or eight people, the per-person price falls slightly as your group grows, and it also changes by season. Prices start from {price} per person.
No. The pilot controls the whole flight, from takeoff to landing, and you only follow the simple instructions given in the safety briefing. Tell us your age, weight and any health conditions when you book, so we can confirm with the pilots that the flight is suitable for you before your date.
