- Start with a personal briefing on the boat, so you understand the equipment and what will happen before you go below the surface.
- Make two dives at two different Red Sea sites, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, to see two sides of the reef.
- Set the pace yourself: time in the water depends on you and is usually around 30 to 40 minutes on each dive.

Tour Route
What is discover scuba diving in Hurghada?
It is a day built around trying scuba diving with close support. You get a personal briefing from an experienced instructor, then two dives at two different sites, each one-to-one with that instructor. It is a way to find out what diving feels like in the Red Sea before deciding whether to take it further.
How do one-to-one dives work?
One-to-one means your instructor dives with you alone. Their attention stays on you for the whole dive, rather than being split across a group, so you can go at your own speed, signal whenever you need something, and end the dive when you are ready.
That is also why time in the water varies. The usual plan is around 30 to 40 minutes per dive, but the instructor follows how you feel on the day. If you want to stay longer or come up sooner, that is your call.
Why do you need a medical form before diving?
Diving goes ahead only after you complete a medical form. Its purpose is to make sure diving is suitable for you. We can send the form before you arrive, so ask for it when you book and return it early. If you have a question about any answer on it, tell us before the day.
Should you snorkel or dive on your Red Sea day?
Snorkel if you want an easy day mostly on the surface with island time, and dive if you want to be inside the reef with an instructor beside you. Snorkeling trips cover more spots and more beach; this diving day spends longer at two sites and gives you a new skill to try.
- Discover scuba diving (this page): two one-to-one dives, a personal briefing and lunch on the boat.
- Snorkeling trips: several surface stops, a chance to see dolphins and beach time on an island.
- Both: many visitors snorkel one day and dive another during the same stay.
What else can you do in Hurghada?
If you prefer to stay on the surface, or want a second day at sea after diving, Hurghada has snorkeling days to suit different groups.
For a private car and instructor and your choice of area, see the private snorkeling trip in Hurghada. For a shared cruise with island time, book the snorkeling trip to Giftun Island, or spend the day on the sand at Orange Bay Island.
Tour Itinerary
A full day on one boat with your instructor: a briefing, a morning dive, lunch, and a second dive at a different site.
Diving goes ahead after you complete a medical form, which we can send you before you arrive in Egypt. Its purpose is to make sure diving is suitable for you. Ask for it when you book, fill it in honestly, and contact us with any questions so there are no surprises on the boat.
On the day, you are collected from your hotel in Hurghada and brought to the boat. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a dry change of clothes. Lunch, mineral water and soft drinks are provided on board, so you do not need to carry food.
Your experienced instructor gives you a personal briefing on the boat before any time in the water. This is the moment to ask everything you want to know, about the equipment, breathing underwater, signals and what you will see, so that you go into the first dive feeling prepared.
The first dive is in the morning, with the instructor beside you the whole time. The length of the dive depends on you and is usually around 30 to 40 minutes. You go at your own pace, watching the coral and fish of the Red Sea from inside the reef rather than from the surface.
Between the dives you have lunch on board and time to rest. It is a good moment to talk through the first dive with your instructor and say what you would like from the second one. Let us know about allergies or diets when you book.
In the afternoon the boat moves to a different site for your second dive, again one-to-one with the instructor and usually around 30 to 40 minutes. A new site means new coral and different fish, and most people find the second dive more relaxed than the first.
After the second dive the boat heads back, and you are transferred to your hotel in Hurghada. The transfers, instructor, lunch, drinks and taxes are already paid, so you only need cash for tips and anything outside the program.
