Tour Overview
This is a shared snorkeling cruise from Hurghada to Giftun Island and the national park around it. Our representative picks you up from your hotel, and you join other guests on a boat with an English-speaking guide. The day mixes snorkeling at several coral spots, a chance to see dolphins, beach time and water sports on the island, and an open buffet lunch on board before the transfer back to your hotel.
Tour Highlights
- Snorkel at several different spots off Hurghada where the coral is healthy and the reef fish come in every color, with equipment provided on board.
- Spend time on Giftun Island inside its national park, where you can swim from the beach, try the water sports or rest on the sand.
- Keep an eye out for dolphins during the cruise: wild pods live in these waters, and the trip gives you a chance to swim near them.
- Have an English-speaking guide on the boat to explain each stop, help with the gear and answer questions about the reef and the islands.
- Pay one price that covers hotel pickup and return, the cruise, an open buffet lunch, mineral water, soft drinks and all service charges and taxes.
Tour Route
Is the Hurghada snorkeling trip to Giftun Island worth it?
Yes, if you want a full day of reefs and beach at a fair price and do not mind sharing the boat. You get several snorkeling stops, island time in a protected national park, a guide and lunch, all arranged for you. To choose the area or keep the boat to your own group, see the private trip instead.
How is this different from private snorkeling and the Orange Bay trip?
This page is the shared option: one boat, other guests, a fixed plan to Giftun Island and the national park, and an English-speaking guide. The other two snorkeling days from Hurghada change either who is on the boat or where most of the day is spent.
- Shared snorkeling trip (this page): a cruise with other guests, several coral stops, island time and water sports on Giftun, and a buffet lunch aboard.
- Private snorkeling trip: your group only, a private vehicle, a professional instructor, and your choice of Mahmya Island, Giftun Island or the dolphin area.
- Orange Bay trip: a boat day centered on the white sandbank at Orange Bay, with the longest beach stop of the three and a separate child price.
What is the Giftun Island national park?
The Giftun Islands lie a short boat ride off Hurghada, and the islands and the reefs around them are protected as a national park. That protection is why the coral is still in good shape and the fish life is rich so close to a busy resort town.
It also means simple rules apply: do not touch or stand on the coral, do not feed the fish, take nothing from the reef or beach, and use reef-safe sunscreen.
What should you know before a shared snorkeling cruise?
A shared boat runs to a plan, so a little preparation helps. Listen to the guide's briefing, keep your things in one bag, and be ready when the boat stops.
- Deck space: find a shaded seat early if you burn easily, as the sun on the water is strong.
- Gear: try the mask before the first stop and ask the guide for another size if it leaks.
- Valuables: leave them at the hotel and bring only a little cash for tips.
What else can you do in Hurghada?
One day at sea often leads to another. Hurghada has other snorkeling days that change the privacy or the beach time, and the desert starts just behind the town.
For a private car and instructor and your choice of area, book the private snorkeling trip in Hurghada. For a longer beach stop, see the Orange Bay Island snorkeling trip, and for a change of scene, the quad bike desert safari with a Bedouin dinner.
Tour Itinerary
A full, sociable day at sea on a shared boat, following a set route with snorkeling stops, island time and lunch aboard.
Our representative collects you from your hotel in Hurghada and brings you to the jetty where the snorkeling cruise leaves. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel, sunscreen and a dry change of clothes; the snorkeling equipment is on the boat.
You board the boat with the other guests for the day and meet your English-speaking guide. Before the first stop the crew hands out snorkeling equipment and the guide explains how the stops work and how to stay safe around the reef. Mineral water and soft drinks are available throughout the trip.
The boat anchors at several spots chosen for their coral and fish, and wild dolphins live in these waters, so there is a chance to see them and swim near them. The guide keeps an eye on the group, and you can climb back on deck whenever you want a rest.
The boat brings you to Giftun Island, inside the national park that protects these reefs. This is the beach part of the day: swim from the shore, try the water sports on the island, walk along the sand or simply rest before heading back on board.
Lunch is an open buffet served on the cruise, so you can eat as much as you like and go back for more. Let us know about any allergies or diets when you book, and we will pass it to the crew before the day.
After the last stop the boat sails back to the jetty, and you are transferred to your hotel in Hurghada. The cruise, guide, lunch, drinks and taxes are already paid, so you only need cash for tips and any extras outside the program.
